Schreiber (sbs) There are a lot of great archive editions on the :e(m)r; label ("Ediciones Musicales Rosarinas", or "Editorial Municipal de Rosario" as well), containing classic Argentine folk/tango recordings of the last few decades. This album covers half a century of the works of Omar Torres - composer, bandoneón player, and orchestra director in Rosario, Argentina. Besides arrangements of classic tango compositions by Astor Piazzolla and several others, it features two outstanding original pieces ("Preludio y rondó" and "Progresión"), written by Omar Torres himself, and performed by his quintet in 1988/1990. The recording quality of the first three tracks from 1956 is poor, of course, but we should be thankful and glad that they exist in the first place. Favorite track: Preludio y rondó.
